Why join?

Temple Emanu-El is a synagogue community and a center of Jewish life in Hawaii. Its members are dedicated to the religious and ethical values of Judaism. The Temple is committed to worshiping God, studying Torah, pursuing Jewish education, promoting Jewish identity, enhancing Jewish life and pursuing social justice.

Temple Emanu-El is Hawaii's largest affiliated Union of Reform Judaism (URJ) Jewish congregation. In addition to providing reform Jewish services, the Temple is also a venue for Jewish culture and houses the School of Jewish Studies, which is our supplementary (Sunday) school for Judaica and Hebrew for children in grades K-8.

Belonging to Temple Emanu-El is not only an invitation for a seat in the sanctuary; it is making that seat an enjoyable place to sit. Belonging here is not only creating a place that accepts differences; it is a place that embraces and celebrates those differences. Belonging here is not only receiving help from the community; it is giving back to it. Temple Emanu-El does not just welcome you in; it makes sure you are here to stay.
