Update May 27, 2021

THE LATEST FROM THE RABBINIC SEARCH COMMITTEE

The thirteen members of the Rabbinic Search Committee (RSC) are in the process of interviewing qualified candidates for interim rabbi who applied through the Central Conference of American Rabbis. Our goal is for the interim rabbi to begin before High Holidays 2021 and be with Temple Emanu-El through June 30, 2022.

Our priorities for the interim rabbi include:

  • Engagement, enrichment, and well-being of the congregation

  • Continuing a regular calendar of reform religious services and programs

  • Continuity of life cycle events throughout the interim period, including births, sickness, b’nai mitzvah, weddings, and end-of-life rituals

Once the RSC has completed interviews and thorough discussion, the committee will make a recommendation to the Board of Trustees for review and approval, and then the interim rabbi will be presented to the congregation.

Following selection of an interim rabbi, the RSC will begin the work of searching for a permanent (also known as “settled”) rabbi who would most likely join us on July 1, 2022. The settled search process will include multiple opportunities for congregation input and participation.

If you would like to share any questions or feedback with the RSC, please utilize this form  https://tinyurl.com/RSCInput or call the office at 808-595-7521.
