Welcome to the School of Jewish Studies at Temple Emanu-El!
Shaloha and welcome to the School of Jewish Studies!
Our Pre K-12th grade youth program provides Jewish education that will inspire our children to become committed Jewish adults. Our educational process includes classroom time, holiday programming, guest speakers, family day activities, and more. We encourage parent involvement and have many opportunities for families to participate in the classroom, family programming, and our SJS Parent Hui.
- Kinder-7th grade classes are conducted Sundays from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
- Kadima, our Hebrew school for ages 10+, takes place immediately after SJS classes on Sundays from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM.
- Nevatim (keiki aged birth through pre-K) and Kulam (teens in 8th-12th grade) meet monthly on Sundays.
Registration takes place during summer, but new students are welcome throughout the year. Click the icons below for more information about each program.
The School of Jewish Studies Educational Vision
At the SJS, our educational opportunities support and challenge young learners so that they can become educated Jews who:
- Connect with their Jewish community both here in Honolulu and around the world.
- Integrate the cultural, moral, and spiritual values of Judaism into their lives.
- Cherish the language, history, text and homeland of the Jewish people.
With these three cornerstones, SJS is providing a new standard of excellence in holistic Jewish education through immersive learning experiences for all ages.
